- NIST report "Cost Analysis of Inadequate Interoperability in the U.S. Capital Facilities Industry" suggests that the cost is US$15.8 bn per year and 2 thirds of it is borne by the building owners.
- Finland's Vera Project Reports are all collected here. Three special mentions are:
- Towards a competitive cluster - An evaluation of real estate and construction technology programmes (2003), Petri Uusikylä, Ville Valovirta, Risto Karinen, Enno Abel, Thomas Froese. The evaluation report shows the evolution of the technology programme scheme. The earlier programmes were quite small and rather fragmented. Their focuswas on the specific fields of technology and industries. The later programmes have a more coordinated and cluster-oriented approach. The results show that the chosen path has been appropriate; for example, the interaction between different actors has increased.
- PM4D Final Report (2002), Martin Fischer & Calvin Kam, CIFE Technical Report 143. The report presents the findings from the design and construction of the Helsinki University of Technology Auditorium Hall 600 (HUT-600) in Finland. Running simultaneously with the design and construction of the HUT-600 project, an international research partnership extensively applied the product modeling approach, tested the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) interoperability standards, and employed an array of design, visualization, simulation, and analysis tools on the 17-month, USD $5-million capital project.
