Latest IFC/ifcXML Specifications (IFC2x3)

The IFC2x Edition 3 (short IFC2x3) is the latest official IFC release recommended for implementation. It has been published in February 2006 and contains several improvements over the IFC2x Edition 2 Addendum 1 release from July 2004. The IFC2x3 has been the first IFC release following the new IFC release methodology and has been already used in prototype implementations.
  • New releases of IFC and ifcXML are now published at http://www.iai-tech.org. The first update includes final versions of ifcXML2x2 and ifcXML2x3 and IFC2x3 Technical Corrigendum 1. (29 June 2007)
  • IFC2x3 (Online documention)
The master document for IFC2x Edition 3 contains the EXPRESS (ISO 10303-11) language definition, the EXPRESS-G graphical representation and the documentation of the IFC object model. The publication format is a set of hyperlinked HTML pages, also including the property set definitions for this IFC release and a change log.
    • IFC2X3_EXPRESS_longform_Final.zip
The EXPRESS longform schema is the nominal, computer readable part of the IFC object model. It is the baseline for all implementations of the EXPRESS based IFC object model.
    • IFC2x3_Final_HTML_distribution.zip
The zip archive has the same content as the IFC2x3 (Online documentation). It can be downloaded for offline working.
  • Implementation guides for IFC2x2 are published to provide guidance for the implementation of the IFC2x2 object model. They contain explanations for the correct and recommended population of the IFC object model with examples and further explanations. Both guides represent work in progress.
    • IFC Implementation guide 1.7
The IFC implementation guide is the general guide for IFC implementation. The examples used follow the EXPRESS based IFC object model and are provided using the *ifc file format (STEP physical file, ISO 10303-21)
    • ifcXML implementation guide 1.0
The ifcXML implementation guide discusses the specifics of the XML based implementation of the IFC object model.
