ProIT (Finland)

Pro IT development project (June 2002 - December 2004) was initiated by the Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries RT. The objective of the project is to define a national data management approach and guidelines for the construction process, based on product modelling.

The project develops the entire building process and its procedures with a building product model serving as a common source of information for the various parties involved in the process. The scope of the project covers developing the product model -based process and modelling its data exchange, compiling the design guidelines needed in product modelling, and creating the model structures for product libraries.

The development work is supported by the member companies of RT, performing the piloting and testing with the help of real projects and products. The development work is done in the cooperation with the real estate owners, designers and other interest groups. Industry -wide product modelling procedures and guidelines will be created as a result. The development work is open and the results are public.
