Building Smart

The technology is here and it is now up to the construction industry worldwide to implement significant chnages for productivity growth and efficiency enhancement.

Building Smart is an IAI initiative that offers an industry wide forum for the industry and government to work through due process to identify, test, review, recommend and implement smart ways to deliver quality buildings and services to the facility owner.

To be effective, a wholistic approach of changes must be considered:

1. Organisational change. This involves sharing goals, setting standards, aligning processes, and sharing data of the project. E.g. SARA's Technology clusters.
2. Process change. New ways of operation are identified, tried. implemented and measured to deliver substantial improvement of quality and savings. E.g. CORENET, Norwegian initiative
3. Technology change. Productive tools are used to deliver the process change and organisational change. E.g. ProIT.
